THE POSITION OF IPBAN ON THE NATIONAL DRUG DISTRIBUTION GUIDELINE
Good drug distribution practice deals with a set of guidelines for proper distribution of medicinal products for human use. It is a quality warranty system which includes requirements for purchase, receiving, storing and export of drugs intended for human consumption.
It regulates the logistics of storage and movement of pharmaceutical products from a central point through an intermediate to the end user.
In Nigeria the drug distribution system has remained largely uncoordinated posing a huge challenge to adequate health care delivery.
In response to the above challenging situation, the presidential committee on pharmaceutical sector reform (PCPSR) was constituted in 2003 to develop strategies towards the sanitization of the drug distribution system in the country.
The national drug distribution guidelines have been developed to serve as a reference standard to all those involve in the drug distribution process.
